Mocoa is nestled in southwest Colombia, within the Amazonian Putumayo department. Bordering Ecuador and Peru, Mocoa is the most accessible and developed area in Putumayo.

Founded by Captain Avendaño on September 29, 1563, Mocoa, or San Miguel de Agreda de Mocoa, celebrates its foundation and patron saint festivals every September.
