This city is a canvas for both local and international artists, where every wall and abandoned building becomes a masterpiece in the making.
Bogotá’s urban art is more than just aesthetics; it’s a cultural celebration and a pulse check on the nation’s political and social climate. If you’re ready to dive into this colorful world, keep reading!
The Crisp Graffiti Tour
Let’s start with the famous Crisp Graffiti Tour. Led by Christian, aka Crisp, an Australian artist turned local, this two-hour walking tour offers a deep dive into the city’s underground art scene. You’ll wander through Bogotá’s most art-filled streets, uncovering the stories behind each piece and its creator.
Bogotá Graffiti House
A recent addition to the tour is the Bogotá Graffiti House, located in the historical Chorro de Quevedo. It’s a gallery-cum-event space showcasing stunning graffiti works. Find it at Carrera 2 #12B-35, Basement 1, in a charming colonial house.
Spotlight on Prominent Artists
The tour highlights several key figures in Bogotá’s street art scene. From the diverse collective of The APC, known for their versatile techniques, to the world-renowned stencil artist Dj Lu, each artist brings a unique flavor to the city’s streets.
Don’t miss the works of Ronzo, a German artist with ties to Banksy, or the playful and vibrant graffiti of Spanish artist Pez, a member of the APC collective.
A special mention goes to Crisp himself, known for his intriguing masked creations, and Bastardilla, a local female artist whose work often reflects themes of inequality and violence.
And let’s not forget Toxicómano and Rodez, artists who use their work to comment on society and politics, adding depth and thought to the colorful streets of Bogotá.
Bicycle Graffiti Tour by 5Bogotá
For a different perspective, join the 5Bogotá Bicycle Graffiti Tour. This 2.5-hour journey starts at the Universidad Nacional, showcasing the critical and rebellious art adorning the university walls. You’ll ride through central Bogotá, witnessing a fusion of national and international talent.
Stencil Workshop Experience
The tour wraps up with a unique Stencil Workshop at Trama, where you get to create your own stencil art to take home. These workshops are a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the art form and leave with a personal souvenir.
If you’re interested in these tours or want to explore on your own, wander along Calle 26 towards the airport or visit various spots in Chapinero. But remember, La Candelaria neighborhood is a true graffiti paradise waiting to be discovered.
